WHO WE ARE
Bronx Economic Power Project
We are a powerful alliance of Bronx-based organizations rooted in the struggle for racial, economic, and environmental justice. In partnership with The New York Women's Foundation and as part of their place-base investment strategy and with support and guidance from Universal Partnership, we are committed to building an economy that works for our communities—one grounded in ownership, democracy, and care.
BxEPP PARTNERS
This work centers the leadership and vision of women cis-and-trans and gender non conforming people of color.
Together, we form a dynamic coalition that spans the Bronx—uniting our communities, campaigns, and visions under the shared banner of economic democracy. We believe that when Bronx residents control their labor, land, housing, and resources, we build lasting power and collective liberation.

New York Women's Foundation
The New York Women’s Foundation-Since 1987, The New York Women’s Foundation has advanced a dynamic philanthropic strategy based on the fundamental reality that, when women thrive, their families and communities also thrive. Our framework is rooted in gender, racial, and economic justice, based on trust, and guided by community. When we say women, we unequivocally mean cis and trans women. As a gender justice funder, we are also inclusive of all other gender-oppressed individuals, including non-binary and gender-expansive people. We celebrate that our community includes diverse gender identities and expressions.

universal parntership
UP is a national consulting practice. At the core of our work is the deep belief that at the heart of sustainable movements must be the beat of sustainable people. Our mission is to provide innovative self-healing tools, life & leadership skills to support movement workers in sustaining their humanity, & the humanity of the communities they serve, by organizing from a place of wholeness.
The integration of somatics into a social justice organizing framework is also rooted in embracing the full humanity of our communities. It provides fresh tools for exploring in depth how & why individuals & collectives are primed to take some actions & unlikely to take others. By broadening analysis of our communities with a somatic lens, we become increasingly capable of moving our communities from a collective center, rather than relying primarily on identifying & rallying around time-limited self-interests.
Ultimately, we believe that changing ‘you’ is changing the world. By engaging in self-transformation towards embodied leadership, social change agents, organizations & communities can begin to align themselves, their beliefs & actions with their vision for the world.

What We’re Doing Now –
& Where We’re Headed.
Phase 1: Building the Foundation (Launching Fall 2025)
This September, the Bronx Economic Power Project (BxEPP) is launching its Train-the-Trainer program to expand community knowledge and understanding of economic democracy. This first phase is focused on developing a skilled cohort of Bronx-based trainers who will be equipped to lead workshops and education sessions across neighborhoods starting in Spring 2026.
This foundational work will:
- Equip Bronx leaders, organizers, educators, and residents with a shared language and understanding of economic democracy.
- Create the groundwork for a borough-wide movement rooted in collective ownership, decision-making, and economic justice.
- Center the needs and vision of women and trans-gender-non-conforming (TGNC) people of color from the Bronx.
