WHO WE ARE

Bronx Economic Power Project

We are a powerful alliance of Bronx-based organizations rooted in the struggle for racial, economic, and environmental justice. In partnership with The New York Women's Foundation and as part of their place-base investment strategy and with support and guidance from Universal Partnership, we are committed to building an economy that works for our communities—one grounded in ownership, democracy, and care.

BxEPP PARTNERS

This work centers the leadership and vision of women cis-and-trans and gender non conforming people of color.

Together, we form a dynamic coalition that spans the Bronx—uniting our communities, campaigns, and visions under the shared banner of economic democracy. We believe that when Bronx residents control their labor, land, housing, and resources, we build lasting power and collective liberation.

Collective Economic Liberation

Our Mission Statement

To advance economic democracy across the Bronx by strengthening institutional partnerships, expanding cooperative ownership models, building sustainable local economies, and cultivating a shared understanding and commitment to community-led development.

Economic Democracy

Our Vision Statement

A Bronx where economic democracy is deeply rooted in every neighborhood—where community members own and govern their local economies, cooperatives thrive, public and private institutions champion shared prosperity, and cross-borough partnerships unite to create an inclusive, equitable, and self-determined future.

What We’re Doing Now –

& Where We’re Headed.

Phase 1: Building the Foundation (Launching Fall 2025)

This September, the Bronx Economic Power Project (BxEPP) is launching its Train-the-Trainer program to expand community knowledge and understanding of economic democracy. This first phase is focused on developing a skilled cohort of Bronx-based trainers who will be equipped to lead workshops and education sessions across neighborhoods starting in Spring 2026.

This foundational work will:

  • Equip Bronx leaders, organizers, educators, and residents with a shared language and understanding of economic democracy.
  • Create the groundwork for a borough-wide movement rooted in collective ownership, decision-making, and economic justice.
  • Center the needs and vision of women and trans-gender-non-conforming (TGNC) people of color from the Bronx.
